Welcome to Black Dirt Homestead

Where Tradition Meets Sustainability

Hello and welcome to Black Dirt Homestead! We are so glad you're here. This space is where we share our journey of homesteading, sustainable living, and the joy of providing nutrient-dense foods for our family and community.

Who We Are

Black Dirt Homestead is more than just a homestead—it’s a way of life. Nestled in rich, fertile soil, our homestead is home to a thriving ecosystem of livestock, gardens, and a cottage bakery. We raise over 100 laying hens, four milking cows, sheep, pigs, and a growing herd of cattle, all with the goal of producing high-quality, ethically raised food.

Our Philosophy

Our passion is rooted in traditional farming methods that honor the land, the animals, and the people who rely on them. We believe in sustainable practices that regenerate the soil, nourish the body, and create a deeper connection to our food. From raw milk to pastured eggs and sourdough bread, every product from our homestead is crafted with care and intention.

What to Expect Here

On this blog, we’ll share everything from seasonal farm updates and homesteading tips to recipes, baking techniques, and the lessons we learn along the way. Whether you’re a fellow homesteader, a sourdough enthusiast, or someone simply curious about farm-fresh living, we hope you’ll find inspiration and valuable insights here.

We’re excited to embark on this journey with you—welcome to Black Dirt Homestead!
