Nestled in the heart of Minnesota, Black Dirt Homestead is more than just a Homestead—it’s our family’s way of life. We’re a small, hardworking family raising our children alongside the rhythms of the land, dedicated to providing nutrient-dense, pasture-raised food while living out our values of sustainability, stewardship, and simplicity.

Our Family & Our Farm

We are a family of six, with little hands just as involved in the farm as the big ones. Whether it’s collecting eggs, feeding the pigs, or helping knead dough in our cottage bakery, our children are growing up learning the beauty of hard work, responsibility, and the joy of raising food the way it was meant to be—naturally and with care.

Our days start early with the sounds of cows calling for breakfast and end with tired boots by the door, little giggles echoing through the barns, and the satisfaction of another day well spent on the land.

What We Raise & Grow

At Black Dirt Homestead, we believe that healthy food starts with healthy soil and happy animals. That’s why we raise:

• Pastured Pork (Idaho Pasture Pigs) – A breed known for its excellent meat quality and foraging ability, raised on open pasture and supplemented with our own custom-mixed feed rations.

• Whole Pastured Chickens – Raised on fresh grass, sunshine, and a carefully balanced diet, ensuring flavorful, nutrient-rich meat.

• Raw Dairy & Grass-Fed Beef – Our cows provide fresh, raw milk for our family, and we raise beef cattle on rotational pasture for wholesome, grass-fed meat.

• Farm-Fresh Eggs – Our hens lay the most vibrant, delicious eggs, gathered daily by eager little hands.

• Sourdough & Cottage Baking – From freshly baked sourdough bread to nourishing, homemade treats, our cottage bakery brings together our love for wholesome, traditional foods.
